The Bengals announced today that linebacker Emmanuel Lamur has signed his tender as a restricted free agent, making official a move that was expected.
Lamur is entering his fourth season with the Bengals after signing as undrafted free agent in 2012. The one-year tender offer will pay him $2.36 million this year.
After missing the entire 2013 season with a shoulder injury, Lamur started at SAM linebacker last year and played in 14 games. He finished third on the team in tackles (90), had two interceptions and led the front seven in passes defended with seven.
“Emmanuel is a player we see as still emerging,” Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said in a statement. “He has a great blend of size and athleticism. We had him tabbed for a big role two years ago and an injury held him back, but he was full go last year and fulfilled our expectations. We believe the best is yet to come.”
